In every moment, we have a choice to pass through the door of then or the door of now.

The door of then means choosing to be in the past and also to be perseverating on the future whereas the door of now is being in the present moment as fully as possible.

We are socialized to always be choosing the door of then so much so that choosing the door of now takes a lot of conscious thought and commitment.

For this reason, it makes sense to think of the door of then as an old door and the door of now as a new door.

As musicians with a lot of big thoughts, consciously choosing a new door as much as we can, especially when we are making music together, is a gift and a relief.
