Jeff and I (The Soft and Low) are so looking forward to playing our original folk-rock and a small handful of lovingly selected covers at La Wine tomorrow!
A few weeks ago, Shanshan (owner of La Wine) shared some fascinating background that we are honored to pass along.
See you tomorrow (Saturday, September 16) at 7 pm!π§ π πΈ π· πΆ

βhello all dear friends, this is Shanshan, I am the owner of La Wine Bar & Restaurant. Today, I would like to share a little bit my background with you: ” where I come from?”
My hometown is “Yanbian” (full name: “Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture”) in the east of Jilin Province, China, on the south by North Korea’s North Hamgyong Province. Yanbian is designated as a Korean autonomous prefecture due to the large number of ethnic Koreans living in the region.
In the late 19th century, Korean immigrants migrated en masse from the Korean Peninsula to China. in 1952, the Korean migrants comprised some 60% of the local population, when the civil war was over, the Chinese government gave these Koreans their own autonomous region in 1952. Yanbian was upgraded to an ethnic autonomous prefecture in 1955. (references by wikipedia)
Because of my particular background, I am excited to present the authentic Chinese and Korean food and drinks to all the Iowans.β
