Magical March will not be complete without this coming Saturday’s annual music party by my students in the West Music Recital Hall. I have twenty five students performing who range from age 4 all the way up. One of my students, who studies harp with Malerie Weed, will be also performing on her harp. My… Read More Annual Music Party!
Atticus and I were recently honored to give a presentation on Irish music to our friends at the homeschool assistance program. Here we are singing “The Song of the Seal”. I still have trouble believing that my littlest baby boy is this big and mature. Bittersweet. He still has some baby left in him though.… Read More Bright spots
Oh, how I love lists! In actual fact, lists are how I maintain sanity. I don’t throw that idea around lightly and I know that I’m in good company. At least 40 million Americans and I have a problem with anxiety. There are just so many things so utterly out of our individual control. So.… Read More Lists
Atticus had his Irish step dance debut a few weeks ago for a hooley put on by the Champagne Academy of Irish Dance. We were in the ceili band playing for the dance and I was really proud to be joined by a few of my students who really held their own playing for the… Read More Advance and Retire

I usually teach private lessons but working one on one and being only one person means that I’m not able to secure a weekly lesson time for everyone who approaches me about learning Irish fiddle. In June, I… Read More Irish Fiddle Workshop
Saturday was SO HOT! (how hot was it?) It was so hot that the brilliant Tom G, proprietor of Uptown Bill’s, attached an oven mitt to the metal door handle in order to allow customers to enter. I wish I had taken a picture. It was another magical session. You just can never predict who will show… Read More Session Recap
Tomorrow (July 7) is going to be such a fun day! In the morning from 9 to 11 am, we’ll be playing at the Iowa City Farmer’s Market. I love making music while kids climb the trees behind me, toddlers make art with sidewalk chalk, and dogs snarfle up stray popcorn bits. It’s truly a… Read More A Very Irish Saturday
Joe has been sick for several days with some kind of nasty upper respiratory infection and Atticus also succumbed to illness for a day so our 4th of July activities were more low-key than usual. The boys were invited to be part of the parade but since we had been battling illness and the temperature… Read More Freedom
